Internationals

The international ‘Kemphans‘ have touched down again in their yellow-blue home port. Their focus is now back on point for the upcoming league match against Sporting Charleroi, but let’s take a moment to reflect on the performances of our players on the international stage.

Whether in yellow-blue or red-yellow-black, youngster Arthur Piedfort feels at home on any football field. The Young Kemphan continued his positive streak from KVCW to the Belgian U19 team. With wins against Albania and Ireland and a draw against Slovenia, he, along with the young Red Devils, qualified for the last intermediate round towards the Euro 2024 in Northern Ireland.

More good news came from our other Belgian youth internationals, Lucas Stassin and Tuur Rommens. They started their last international break of the year with a minor setback against Scotland, managed by another Kemphaan – Adedire Mebude. However, they impressively bounced back against the powerhouse Spain with a solid 1-1 draw. Mebude, in turn, concluded his international break with a goalless draw against Hungary.

Both our Belgian youth internationals and our Scottish Kemphaan Mebude are still in the running for a spot in the U21 Euro 2025. Both nations share the second position in their qualification group with an equal number of points.

Regarding our youth internationals, Frigan and Bayram followed the same pattern as Mebude, with one win and one draw closing out their international year.

Surprise for Daci, goal fest with Bos and co

At the A-level, the Aussies led by Jordan Bos created a goal fest against Bangladesh. On the other hand, Palestine was narrowly defeated. With this double extra three points, the Socceroos maintain their perfect record in the qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup.

Daci and his North Macedonian teammates pulled off a surprise by holding England to a 1-1 draw. However, they had to bow their heads against the other powerhouse, Italy.

Sydorchuk aims for an EK ticket

Sergiy Sydorchuk’s Ukraine did not bow down to the Italians. They made the Azzurri tremble in the crucial qualification match for Euro 2024. With a draw against the Ukrainians, the boot-shaped team secured a spot in that major tournament, while Sydorchuk and his teammates still need to earn their place through the playoffs.

Reynolds‘ focus, on the other hand, wasn’t on a ticket for the EK in the past few days but on another major tournament. With his American teammates, he faced Iraq and Morocco in preparation for the Olympic Games. One draw and one loss make up his report as he returns to the Westelse Training Ground.
