Halil Akbunar has signed a contract for 3,5 years with Eyüpspor. They are currently ranked first in the Spor Toto 1ste League, the Turkish second division.

Even though he was happy at KVC Westerlo, family reasons are behind his sudden return. He played 15 official games, 9 times in the starting lineup. He scored 3 goals and gave 4 assists.
