Pape Diong strengthens the midfield

KVC Westerlo welcomes Pape Diong. The 20-year-old Senegalese defensive midfielder joins from RC Strasbourg Alsace and signs a four-year contract.

Diong is a physically strong defensive midfielder who keeps the balance in midfield and acts as a shield in front of the centre backs. Strasbourg loaned him out to USL Dunkerque, where he made 28 appearances.

Diong also has international experience. He earned three caps for Senegal U20 and made his debut for the senior Senegal national team in September 2023.
