KVC Westerlo sign Cameroonian talent Philippe Bibout

KVC Westerlo have strengthened their squad with the signing of Philippe Bibout. The central midfielder, born in 2008, joins the club from Gambinos Stars Africa in The Gambia.

Bibout is regarded as one of Cameroon’s most promising young talents and arrives from one of West Africa’s most renowned football academies. Gambinos Stars Africa is widely recognised for its outstanding player development programme, preparing young footballers for the highest level of the game.

The academy, which is under German ownership, is led on the sporting side by Belgian Albert Martens, former international scout at RSC Anderlecht. Gambinos Stars Africa is also part of the Red&Gold Football project, a collaboration between FC Bayern Munich and Los Angeles Football Club aimed at identifying and developing elite young talent from around the world.

A recent example of the academy’s success is Bara Sapoko Ndiaye. The former Gambinos Stars Africa prospect earned a move to FC Bayern Munich, has since made his Bundesliga debut, and represented Senegal at the recent FIFA World Cup 2026, further highlighting the academy’s growing international reputation.
