KVC Westerlo – Cercle Brugge

PREVIEW

In the last five home matches against the green and black team from Bruges, the nets shook no fewer than 24 times, including 14 goals for our Kemphanen. Some big names are also engraved as scorers: Lucas Stassin 2x, Griffin Yow 2x, Nene Dorgeles 3x, Nicolas Madsen, Romeo Vermant and Allahyar Sayyadmanesh.

Balance so far: 21 matches – 11 wins and 4 draws.

Away game
On match day 4, we travelled to the Jan Breydel Stadium, a match in which we had possession (53%) and the total number of shots (25), but in which we conceded three goals between the 35th and 45th minutes, from which we were unable to recover.

This match is often referred to in interviews, saying that this group has matured since then, with heads down and less maturity than the current performances of our lads on the pitch.

Westerlo news
There are two newcomers to the squad: the promising Naoufal Bohamdi-Kamoni joins us from RSCA Futures. His fine assist for Fernand Goure in the match against Basaksehir already bodes well. The second newcomer is Japanese player Shunsuke Saito, who is making the move to ’t Kuipje from Mito HollyHock.

Cercle news
Our opponents currently have one incoming winter transfer: Dante Vanzeir, who turned down Kuipje in the mid-season and will now play for Bruges’ second club for six months.

Winger Alan Minda was sold for €7 million to Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro, where the legendary Brazilian Hulk is the team captain.

Referee
Bert Put will referee the match. On match day 15, he was already a guest at ’t Kuipje for the match against Gent (0-0).

In total, this will be his 13th match for our Kemphanen, in which we have won 5 times and drawn 3 times.
