GENERAL

Delivery of 62 electric vehicles marks the start of a strategic and sustainable collaboration

On Friday, June 20, 2025, KVC Westerlo officially kicked off a unique partnership with BYD Belux, a pioneer in electric mobility and part of Inchcape. KVC Westerlo is the first Belgian football club to join BYD’s global network of partners. As part of this collaboration, 34 fully electric vehicles have already been delivered, including the BYD Seal U and BYD Tang. The delivery of 28 BYD Atto 3 models will follow in July.

The vehicles were formally handed over to KVC Westerlo’s management team, represented by Wim Van Hove, in the presence of Joris Clavie, Managing Director of Inchcape – BYD Belux, and Janson Zhan, Country Manager Benelux of BYD Europe.

This partnership goes beyond logistics — it reflects shared values such as ambition, strong growth, sustainability, and a deeply rooted family spirit. Both parties are working towards a future where technological innovation and social responsibility go hand in hand, fostering a warm and inclusive culture that puts people and ambition at the heart of everything.

BYD – short for Build Your Dreams – has grown to become the world’s largest manufacturer of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In 2024 alone, the company sold over 4.3 million BEV and PHEV models globally, making it the absolute number one in fully electric vehicles. BYD combines years of expertise in battery technology with innovation in design, safety, and energy efficiency. The move towards Belgian sports partnerships highlights its commitment to local visibility and relevance.

Joris Clavie, Managing Director Inchcape – BYD Belux:
“This is a special moment: KVC Westerlo is the first Belgian football club to partner with BYD. That is no coincidence – Westerlo is a club with clear ambitions, strong family values, and an impressive growth story. Like BYD, they are firmly focused on the future, and we are proud to walk that path together.”

Wim Van Hove, Managing Director of KVC Westerlo:
“We are very pleased to start this partnership with BYD. As a club, we stand for progress, without losing sight of our core values such as family connection and respect. Thanks to this collaboration, we can not only make our operations more sustainable, but also strengthen them with reliable and innovative mobility.”

With this first delivery and the official start of the partnership, BYD and KVC Westerlo underline their shared vision of a future where sport, technology, and sustainability reinforce one another.
