From childhood dream to European ambition
What began playfully at the age of 7 has grown into a story of pure passion, discipline, and talent. Alyssa Van de Poel is living proof of what’s possible when you chase a dream with all your heart and soul. As a young goalkeeper, she took her first steps at KVC Westerlo U8, and from U9 onward, she completed the full elite training program — a path that shaped her into the strong personality and top athlete she is today.
At just 15 years old, she made the leap to women’s football at the highest level. Since then, she has stood out with her calm presence, tireless work ethic, and rare determination. Each season, she raised the bar for herself, determined to keep growing.
That mentality paid off. Alyssa not only became a key player for our team — keeping clean sheets on multiple occasions — but was also selected for the national U17 and U19 teams. A remarkable achievement that confirms her place among the country’s top talents.
Her name echoed beyond our borders as well. Interest from top clubs, both domestic and international, soon followed. In the end, Alyssa chose to join RSC Anderlecht Women — seven-time national champions and a constant force on the European stage. A move that perfectly matches her hunger for more and her dream to prove herself internationally.
As a club, we can only be proud. Proud to have guided her from a young age, to have coached her, and to have witnessed her growth. Proud to have contributed to her development as both a player and a person.
Alyssa, whatever you do, wherever you play — you will always be one of us. A true Westel Lady at heart.
We wish you nothing but the very best for the future!
