Welcome Roman Neustädter

Our club may welcome another newcomer. Roman Neustädter will join our Kemphans until the end of the season with an option for one extended year.

The Russian German started his career at the 2nd Bundesliga club 1.FSV Mainz 05. There he covered the entire route from youth to first team. In 2012 he was picked up by the big Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga.

Three seasons later he even got a taste of Champions League with FC Schalke 04. The biggest reward was yet to come. Because 3 months after his transfer to Schalke, he made his debut for the German National Team under the direction of Joachim Löw. For ‘Die Königsblauen’ from Gelsenkirchen he made 161 appearances in which he scored 8 times. For the ‘Mannschaft’, he would eventually make 2 friendly appearances.

In the summer of 2016, the central midfielder went to try his luck abroad for the first time at Turkish top club Fenerbahce. With an eye on the 2016 European Championship in France, the Russian coach Cherchesov was looking for some players abroad. Roman has a Russian mother and appeared willing to play for the Russian national team. He appeared for the first time just before the European Championship in a friendly match against the Czech Republic, and eventually made it to the final selection for that tournament.
His last club for which he was active was Dynamo Moscow. His contract expired there on July 1, 2021. In the meantime, he maintained his fitness level, passing his medical and physical tests that he underwent this week.

We wish Roman lots of success at our ‘Kemphanen’!
