Preview RWDM

A bitter draw. That was the title of last Monday’s match report when our team took on Lommel SK. The same Lommel SK that a week earlier forfeited their match against RFC Seraing due to covid infections. Against Westerlo, the green and white decided to play a good game. In a not too spectacular game, Westerlo took the lead after good intervening play by Atabey Çiçek who in turn gave Lukas Van Eenoo a goal in his 100th official game in the KVC Westerlo shirt. Afterwards, Westerlo crept backwards too much and got the lid on the game after a Lommel goal had been disallowed earlier.

It will be the third time that Westerlo and RWDM will face each other this season. In the first game at RWDM, our two teams were in the thick of things. After a domestically caused scandal against Union, RWDM was too strong in the Edmond Machtens Stadium in Brussels. After that, things started to turn around and the only team to lose was the one at home to leader Union on 20 December. Barely 3 days after the first match, Westerlo and RWDM met again for the second game. Westerlo put things in order and won with convincing 3-0 figures. Before this match the players got a message from our supporters to motivate them extra.

RWDM meanwhile saw 2 games in a row cancelled due to the winter weather. The other 2 games against Union and Lommel did not bring the Brussels players any points for the time being. New coach Vincent Euvrard is looking for the first win in 2021 against KVC Westerlo. Rendezvous on Saturday, February 20 at 20:00 in the Edmond Machtens Stadium!
