Preview RFC Seraing

“The best game of the season so far” we read as a comment on our social media channels after the 3-0 victory against Deinze. And whether we agree with that. Westel played liberated against Deinze on Wednesday and had both defensive stability and offensive opulence up front. If our kemphanen can confirm this Sunday against the second in the RFC Seraing stand, it throws the fight completely open again and gradually finds its way back to where it belongs.

Best attack, worst defence

Emilio Ferrera’s troops are playing all or nothing this season. In 10 confrontations they already won 6 times and lost 4 times. They never played equal. At the same time, we see that the club that took over from Boussou Dour in 2013 to continue playing in the national series has the best attack of the 1B Pro League. With 27 goals they score almost twice as much as Westerlo. On the other hand, Seraing has the second worst defense of all teams. Only Club NXT does worse.

Seraing is in a slight dip with a 3-0 loss game visiting Deinze and a 1-3 pandoering on their own pitch against Lierse K. Coach Emilio Ferrera thus has work ahead of him in his 399th game as coach next Sunday. Besides Emilio, brothers Francisco, Manu and cousin Yannick are no strangers in the football world. Emilio Ferrera is ready for his 25th club with Seraing. The Belgian has already coached a team in Mexico, Greece, Saudi Arabia and Luxembourg.

Olympic goals in ’t Kuipje

With 7 out of 9 the overtaking races were pretty well digested by our kemphanen. When our club finished its moments in the Daknam stadium it could even make it 9 out of 9. Lukas Van Eenoo would call it a business win. Against RWDM and Deinze good performances were made on their own field. twice they won convincingly 3-0. Twice we witnessed an Olympic goal! Both the right side of Brüls and the left side of Van Eenoo managed to get the job done. It wouldn’t surprise us if both men kicked some more balls after practice.

The match against RWDM was at times still tough and difficult, but we could count on an efficient Westel to finish his chances at the right moments. Against Deinze, on the other hand, Westerlo was in control for almost 90 minutes and never allowed Deinze to get into the game. With 60% possession of the ball, the statistics don’t lie either.

Sunday’s game against Seraing is an important game to rejoin the top of the league table. In the Pairay stadium Seraing bit his teeth on well organised Westerlo and our kemphanen went with the 3 points on the bus to ’t Kuipje. After that match the coronavirus broke out en masse in ’t Kuipje. Sunday it will have to happen again without playmaker Brüls. Rendezvous in ’t Kuipje at 20h00!
