Preview Lommel SK

After the elimination in the Croky Cup against Charleroi on an almost unplayable pitch last week, the Pro League decided to cancel the Sunday matches in 1B. This while big brother 1A was allowed to finish its games. That there is still a noticeable difference in treatment between 1A and 1B became painfully clear again.

A new week then, again without football. Because KVC Westerlo only takes on their neighbours from Lommel on Monday 15/02. In the wake of this match, Lierse Kempenzonen’s match against Deinze has already been moved to Sunday, and RWDM and Seraing will not be in action this weekend as there is no field heating under the Brussels pitch.

For KVC Westerlo, it was also nail-biting. Not because of the field, as our Westerlo greenkeeper is in perfect control of it. Looking at the scoring system that is used for the pitches, our club scores best of all 1B teams and we also beat most 1A teams. It was nail-biting, though, as the covid-spook had a nasty hold on the Limburg club. Lommel decided to forfeit the game against Seraing last weekend to limit the number of infections. Against KVC Westerlo, the Limburgers will be back in action.

With a 6 out of 6 result after the winter break, our team immediately climbed up to second place after the new year and are the candidate to be beaten in the battle for second place. Lommel SK’s forfeit gives Seraing a huge advantage, but with a win, our team is one point ahead of Liège. If it can win on Monday, it will also put Lommel SK on 6 points.

It will do so without the yellow-suspended Keïta. Whether it was express or not, our coach did not want to reveal. We will see on Monday who will fill the spot of our number 6. Meet at 8 pm for another vital game in the battle for promotion!
