Preview Lierse Kempenzonen

Next Sunday, a second vital duel is on the programme. Not only is this a real Kempish derby with the necessary history, for both teams there is also a lot at stake. KVC Westerlo want to remain in the top 2 of the league, whilst Lierse Kempenzonen want to steer clear of the relegation ghost as quickly as possible.

Another spectacle?

Last weekend our kemphanen did not manage to sweep aside RFC Seraing without a fight. It was a great night for the neutral supporter, with an enormous amount of goals and entertainment during 90 minutes. Atabey Çiçek’s header in the last minutes made it a nice ending of the evening for KVC Westerlo. They beat Seraing and are now in pole position for a place that entitles them to promotion.

Whether this match will also provide the necessary spectacle remains to be seen. The previous encounters between the two teams ended in a 0-0 draw and a 0-1 victory for our team. Not exactly statistics that make you dream of a goal-filled evening.

Hat-trick hero Placca

One player to keep an eye on next Sunday is Fessou Placca. The Togolese striker put 3 in the basket against Club NXT last weekend, deciding the game on his own. Placca already managed to score 3 times against our club on 4 May 2019 (play-off 2). Back then with Beerschot, he was the match winner with 3 goals in an exciting finale in which Beerschot pulled the sheet to themselves with a 3-2 victory.

Cup adventure

After Sunday’s game, the focus is immediately on the cup match against RSC Charleroi. The carolos have dropped back to 8th place in the league, so there might be something to pick up at Mambourg for our team. First appointment now Sunday 31 January at 20.00 against Lierse Kempenzonen!
