First half: 0-0

Line-up KVC Westerlo: Van Langendonck, Janssens, Yameogo, Seigers, Soumah, Seydoux, Keïta, Van Eenoo, Alici, Vetokele, Çiçek

KVC Westerlo started the first half full of good intentions. After 10 minutes it was Christophe Janssens who guided Seydoux through the gate. The Swiss opted for a low cross, but Seth De Witte just managed to clear the ball for Atabey Cicek. In minute 25 it was again Westerlo that threatened. Baris Alici dribbled past the Deinze defence and goalkeeper, but the ball went wide. This was the ultimate opportunity for Westerlo to climb into the lead. Deinze were dangerous twice via De Witte and De Belder, but both men failed to get their goals in.

Second half: 0-1

After the break it was Deinze that was the first to pose a threat. Challouk slid the ball into the penalty area where De Witte could lay the ball off for striker Mertens. The Belgian blasted the ball hard past the post. A few minutes later the goal fell on the other side! Cicek skilfully outmanoeuvred his direct opponent and without hesitation kicked at goal. The ball deflected off the post and bounced off the Deinze goalie and onto the crossbar. Vaesen followed up well to work the ball into an empty goal. The young Westel striker was given the chance to replace the injured Vetokele after just half an hour.

Our team won with character and is now assured of a fourth place in the standings. Next Saturday is the last game against the youngsters of Club NXT at home.
