MISSION COMPLETED

Opdracht volbracht

We didn’t see a swirling match like the one in Beveren today in Roeselare. The first half in Schiervelde was even very boring and we didn’t get to see any real chances. In the second half it was enough to push the accelerator for a while, but after eight minutes we were 0-2 ahead. Then the game was played out in a businesslike manner.

Bob Peeters had chosen the same starting eleven for seven consecutive matches in a league context. After the midweek cup match in Beveren he chose today for two new faces. Both Kader Keïta and Ambroise Gboho were allowed to start. Guillaume De Schryver and Sava Petrov had to content themselves with a seat on the bench.
The first half was one to quickly forget. Roeselare wanted to, but to be honest, the whole game was in powerlessness to deliver real goal danger. Our Kemphanen didn’t find the opening and were fairly slow to build up.
Referee Michiel De Cuyper, a debutant by the way, whistled off after 45 minutes with a 0-0 intermediate score, which says it all at once.

There was a lot of talk in the locker room during the break. Especially the coach was talking. He tried to make his men aware of their duties and to increase their urge to go forward. Eight minutes into the second half, when we had already scored three times. First Christian Brüls showed his class to slalom through the Roeselare defense. He found his partner in crime in Lukas Van Eenoo to take a one-two and then delivered the perfect cross to Ambroise Gboho (0-1). A little later we saw two of the same actors at work. Corner kick Brüls and Lukas who took the ball to his left in one go. Biebauw was able to push the ball out of the corner and Kurt Abrahams, who followed, kicked the ball in. Unfortunately, Kurtje was offside and the goal did not go through.
It didn’t bother me, because a little later it was a prize. Kurt Abrahams shot from outside the sixteen, again Biebauw has to lose and Lukas Van Eenoo, who followed suit, made it 0-2. The only fact that we could mention from afterwards is that of Emmanuel Emenike’s long awaited debut. Bob Peeters gave him four minutes of playing time.
