Match report RWDM – KVC Westerlo

Finally it is time for league football again. After the match against Deinze was postponed, we played on the field of RWDM today. Regulars in the first eleven, Thomas Van den Keybus and Maxim De Cuyper, are not with us today due to a suspension after too many yellow cards.

Line-up KVC Westerlo

Jensen, Seigers, Perdichizzi, Mabea, Jordanov, Guctekin, Van Eenoo, Bernat, Vaesen, Daci, Foster

Line-up RWDM

First Half

As early as the second minute, we see Westerlo almost take the lead. A corner kick by Lukas Van Eenoo is headed through towards the far post by Kyan Vaesen, but the ball is headed off the line. A little later Lyle Foster tried his luck from distance, but the shot lacked power to trouble keeper Défourny. In the 13th minute, Vaesen got behind the ball on a free kick just outside the penalty area. The ball was kicked towards the corner of the goal and Défourny got there just in time to keep it out.

The first 20 minutes we see that the game is dictated by Westerlo. The game was mainly played on the RWDM half, but there were no really good chances.

In the 34th minute we see a good chance for our Kemphans. Through a throw in by Kouya Mabea the ball reaches Lyle Foster. Lyle passes the ball to Erdon Daci who passes to Kyan Vaesen. Kyan kicks hard at goal but the ball goes straight at Theo Défourny.

Second half

Immediately after the start of the second half Edisson Jordanov scored with a solid shot towards goal. The ball went over the goal. It is also clear that RWDM are planning to put more pressure on the game than in the first 45 minutes.

After the first 20 minutes of the second half, the nets are still clean. Jordanov struck again with a hard shot but the ball flew past the goal.

In the 72nd minute the first goal of the match is a fact. Lyle Foster played the ball to Kyan Vaesen. Kyan passes the ball to Jan Bernat who kicks it into the net. A little later, both midfielder Oguz Güctekin and defender Pietro Perdichizzi had to leave the field with an injury. Simon Paulet and Guy-Serge Yaméogo enter the field in their place.

In the 84th minute, Kyan Vaesen doubles the score on a pass from Lyle Foster. After a very dominant game, Westerlo takes the three points home, well deserved.
