Match report Lommel SK – KVC Westerlo

Today Westerlo plays in the Soevereinstadion in Lommel. In case of a victory, Westerlo will be champion. Jonas De Roeck has to make two forced substitutions. Because of the suspensions of Pietro Perdichizzi and Edisson Jordanov, Noël Soumah and Leo Seydoux come back into the team. After the final whistle, one team goes into the dressing room relieved. In case of a draw, Lommel can assure itself of another year in 1B.

First Half

Westerlo starts the match eagerly. After two minutes Seydoux Daci dives deep, but goalkeeper Jari De Busser saves. Less than a minute later Vetokele could also score. He kicked the ball over the goal.

In the 13th minute Westerlo got what they deserved. Igor Vetokele could reach Leo Seydoux – after a deviation by Lyle Foster – at the far post and he kicked the 0-1 past the Lommel goalkeeper.

In minute 18 the Kemphans were awarded a penalty kick. Jari De Busser makes a foul on Erdon Daci according to referee Denil. It is a debatable phase, as the goalkeeper does not hit the striker. It is debatable whether the penalty would have been awarded with VAR. Lyle Foster may try to bang the 0-2 onto the scoreboard. De Busser rectified his mistake and stopped the South African’s penalty.

Westerlo kept on putting the pressure on and got a corner kick in the 38th minute. Erdon Daci took the ball well, but his shot hit the bar.

The home team was unable to create a single chance in the first half. Westerlo seemed to go into the break with a 0-1 lead. Lommel SK midfielder Diego Rosa thought otherwise. In the first minute of extra time, he lashed out from outside the penalty area. A minute later, the home team got another chance. Cauê Vinicius was able to kick in the 2-1 after a nice dribble by Koki Saito.

Second Half

The second half started with a chance for Lommel. Saito was played free in the 47th minute, but the Japanese player kicked high over. One minute later Westerlo also got a big chance. Lyle Foster put Daci in front of goal, but the striker headed over.

Westerlo continued to posture themselves in the goal area of Lommel SK. In minute 63 there is another big chance through Erdon Daci. He gets the ball from Vetokele, but it goes wide.

Our Kemphans keep putting pressure on, but there are no real big chances until the 79th minute. Then Foster got the ball in the Lommel sixteen, but he kicked the ball over the goal.

In the final phase we get one last chance through a corner kick. David Jensen goes in front to avoid defeat at all costs. There is no danger, and even Lommel SK can counter one last time. Cauê Vinicius almost kicks the 3-1 into an open goal. As a last straw, Mabea works the Brazilian striker to the ground. The referee gives him a red card.

After 94 minutes referee Denil blows the whistle. Lommel wins the match with 2-1.
