First Half

The game started rather lethargic. Both teams did not make any effort to score the opening goal. In minute 20 RWDM got a first chance, but without any danger.

In the 27th minute Westerlo also had their first big chance. Theo Defourny saved Lukas Van Eenoo’s free kick.

The game went up and down, but after 32 minutes Westerlo could score first. Jan Bernat kicked in the 1-0.

With a one goal lead, our Kemphans were allowed to go into the break.

Second Half

Vincent Euvrard’s team wanted to level the playing field as soon as possible. They came out of the dressing room eagerly, but the RWDM attacker kicked the ball wide of the right post.

Westerlo reacted immediately and a sharp counter ended up with Thomas Van den Keybus. The midfielder placed the ball brilliantly into the top right corner. The 2-0 was on the scoreboard.

In minute 60 Westerlo had another sharp counter attack. Van Eenoo reached Vaesen, but the young striker kicked the ball over.

RWDM had another chance a few minutes later through a free kick. Nicolas Rommens got behind the ball, but the midfielder could not get the ball past David Jensen.

Around the hour, Westerlo made a double change. The striker duo Vaesen-Daci was replaced by the duo Foster-Vetokele.

In the 71st minute Nicolas Rommens got the ball in Westerlo’s penalty area and Yan Vorogovskiy could head in the 2-1.

Jonas De Roeck immediately intervened with another substitution. Öguz Güctekin came on to replace Mathias Fixelles.

In minute 76 RWDM was able to counter again. Mayingala Mata put the boards back in balance. Jan Bernat went to the side for Noël Soumah.

A few minutes later, RWDM came on again. David Jensen had to make two fine saves. The match seemed to be heading for a draw.

In the end of the match Vetokele tried to get the 3-2 past goalkeeper Defourny, but the RWDM-goalkeeper was able to save.

The match ended 2-2. KVC Westerlo is champion! It played its last match in 1B. From next season onwards, our Kemphans can show their skills on the highest level.
