First Half

Westerlo started the game excellently and even managed to score the opening goal immediately. Foster played the ball to the left flank where Maxim De Cuyper had run free. Maxim then played the ball to Igor Vetokele who neatly worked it into the goal, 1-0. Our Kemphans were clearly hungry for goals and victory, because they kept playing forward. In the 20th minute, Chadli managed to get away with a couple of passes and played the ball towards the far post, but his shot was blocked.

Westerlo were on top during the first half hour. Anderlecht didn’t manage to create a single good chance. We were dominant in the midfield where we saw good combinations. Foster almost had the chance to double the score just before half time. De Cuyper gave a good lob pass after which Foster almost managed to outsmart Van Crombrugge. Unfortunately his shot went just wide.

After 45 minutes it was time for the half time break. Our Kemphans can head for the dressing rooms satisfied. Chadli showed immediately in the first half of his debut that he can lift this team to a higher level.

Second Half

Also in the second half Westerlo started well. Immediately after the break, Dierckx was able to get into space and aim at goal but his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Van Crombrugge. At Anderlecht it was mainly Duranville who caused danger with his quick actions but the WestLorean defence had no real problems stopping the attacks.

Totally unexpectedly, Anderlecht scores the equalizer. Substitute Esposito provides a goal with the first shot on target by Purple White. A heavy setback for our Kemphans.

We almost took the lead again. This time it was Akbunar who came up just short to push a Maxim De Cuyper cross into the goal. Vaesen also made a solid effort in a counter attack but hit the keeper. Foster can make an attempt in the rebound but he too cannot work the ball in.

A bit later it is! Westerlo takes a well deserved second lead through Halil Akbunar. Halil went straight to goal after a beautiful pass from De Cuyper and put the ball excellently past Van Crombrugge, 2-1.

After 94 minutes the game is over. T Kuipje shakes after a well-deserved victory against RSC Anderlecht.
