Already in the first minute of the game we get a good chance. Fixelles plays the ball towards the left flank where Maxim De Cuyper sends a sharp cross to Kyan Vaesen. Vaesen headed the ball towards the far post where Igor Vetokele just failed to put his foot on the ball. After a free kick on the left side of the sixteen meter area, another good chance for our team arises. The ball came in the direction of Kyan Vaesen but was tapped just wide.
The game is very dominant in the first half hour at the side of the Kemphans. Mouscron tries to counter but never really manages to break through. Mathias Fixelles creates nice combinations in the midfield.
Just before halftime, we almost take the lead. A long ball is brought to Fixelles who then dribbles past the Mouscron defense. He doesn’t get a good grip on the ball though and kicks straight at the goalkeeper, so the score remains 0-0. Next, the players go into the dressing room. We saw a very dominant Westerlo but they still failed to score any goals.
The second half is kicked off with a hunger for goals. The Kemphans play nice soccer forward with quick combinations on the left flank. De Cuyper crossed well several times but both times it resulted in a corner kick.
In minute 65 the ultimate chance to take the lead falls. A corner from the left side was headed on by Van den Keybus towards the far post. Erdon Daci, who had just stepped in, was unable to get a good grip on the ball and it went over the goal.
In the 68th minute, it’s finally touch and go for our Kemphans. De Cuyper plays the ball to a free Van Eenoo. Van Eenoo passes to the far post where number 14 Kyan Vaesen puts the ball into the net, 1-0.
In the 88th minute Lepoint scored with a hard shot from distance. Goalie David Jensen was ready with a great save to keep the nets clean. After 4 minutes of extra time referee Brent Naessens ends the game. The three points remain in Westerlo.
