Match report KVC Westerlo – Virton
Today we took on Virton at home, the club we opened the league with a 0-2 victory. No changes were made to the starting eleven compared to last week. On the bench we see one change, Lyle Foster takes the place of Guy-Serge Yaméogo.

The game gets underway at 4pm. Kouya Mabea immediately spotted Kyan Vaesen and tried to pass the ball but a Virton defender’s leg got in the way. After ten minutes of football it is clear that it will be a very intense and physical game. Maxim De Cuyper sent in a good cross towards the centre of the penalty area in the 11th minute. Erdon Daci hit the goalkeeper and Kyan Vaesen got the ball in the rebound, but he shot over the goal.
A few minutes later Lukas Van Eenoo took the ball well on the volley just outside the sixteen meter. Anthony Sadin’s first reaction was good, but again Vaesen received the ball in the rebound, this time it went in and so the score was opened by our Kemphans, 1-0. Five minutes later another good opportunity was created by Maxim De Cuyper. He sent another excellent cross in the direction of Erdon Daci, but the ball was not hit properly.
In the 32nd minute there is almost a good chance for Virton. Jamal Aabbou passed the ball well from the right flank towards Souleymane Anne but Rubin Seigers prevented him from shooting with an excellent tackle, great defensive work.
After 45 minutes of football, the first half is over. We go into the dressing rooms with a 1-0 lead.
At the start of the second half, it is Virton that manages to create a few chances, but goalie David Jensen has no problem keeping everything under control.
In minute 57, goalkeeper Kyan Vaesen received a yellow card after tapping Nicholas Rizzo’s leg in a duel. Three minutes later, perhaps the best chance of the match was created. Maxim De Cuyper was free on the left and sent another excellent cross to Erdon Daci at the far post. Daci kicks in one time towards an almost empty goal, but the ball goes high over. The score remains 1-0.
In the 66th minute the long awaited 2-0 finally arrives. Maxim De Cuyper again managed to reach Erdon Daci. The latter hits the ball hard against the nets, 2-0 for Westerlo.
After 77 minutes it is time for the first substitution. Lorenzo Noviello enters the field in place of Erdon Daci. Three minutes later, the second and third changes follow, Fernand Gouré and Lyle Foster replace the goal scorers Kyan Vaesen and Erdon Daci. In the 90th minute, it is also the turn of the last substitute, Léo Seydoux.
After 2 minutes of extra time, the game is over, Westerlo wins 2-0. David Jensen gets his 5th clean sheet in 9 games.
