Match report KVC Westerlo – OFI Kreta

KVC Westerlo were first to reach the opponents’ sixteen meters. Kyan Vaesen turned away from his man and was worked to the ground, but the referee decided it was not a penalty. A little later, in the 10th minute, Vaesen again created danger, taking the ball well and making a good effort that went wide of the left post.
In the 22nd minute Westerlo were awarded a free kick, just on the edge of the penalty area, after a defender of OFI Kreta touched the ball with his hand. Lukas Van Eenoo puts himself behind the ball but kicks into the wall.
In the 37th minute OFI Kreta were awarded a free kick, which also gave them their first real chance on goal, but goalkeeper Koen Van Langendonck got a grip on the ball.
At halftime there was one change, David Jensen came to defend the goal instead of Koen Van Langendonck. After 60 minutes of play, the rest of the team was changed.

The second half is only 6 minutes on and Westerlo get a free kick. Léo Seydoux passed it to the right and central defender Noël Soumah headed the ball in, 1-0. About ten minutes later Crete gets a good chance, but goalkeeper David Jensen was alert and in the right place.
In the 78th minute Dimitrije Jovanovic had a good chance to take the ball away from the Cretan defence, but he was brought down hard from behind just before the sixteen metre mark. The referee decided to give the ball yellow and award Westerlo a free kick. Simon Paulet kicks the ball well into the bottom right corner but the OFI Kreta goalkeeper is right there.
After a few firm mistakes, which until now were only punished with a yellow card, Crete received a red card in the last minute. Immediately afterwards, the match ended with a well-deserved 1-0 victory in favour of our Kemphanen.
