First half

The opponent started the game very eagerly and put the Westel defense constantly under pressure in the first fifteen minutes. There were no real chances to score for either team, it seemed like a game with a lot of tough duels. In the 20th minute goalkeeper Sinan Bolat had to intervene for the first time on a distance shot.

In the 27th minute Jan Bernat was forced to leave the field after a duel with Yentl Van Genechten. Thomas Van den Keybus came to replace him. When play resumed we could almost score the 1-0. Madsen headed a free kick well towards the first post but Igor Vetokele could not hit the ball properly.

After that the game was mainly dictated by our Kemphans. We came close to the Eupen goal a few times but saw no goals fall. Just before half time Tuur Dierckx had a good chance to score the opening goal. Tuur got just a bit too much space on the edge of the penalty area and managed to get out with a shot towards the bottom right corner. Goalkeeper Moser got there just in time to keep his nets clean.

The players were allowed to rest at 0-0, a fairly deserved score for this match.

Second half

Just after the break, we had another excellent chance to take the lead. Van Eenoo took advantage of a bad pass from a Eupen midfielder, sending Dierckx deep. Tuur delivered the ball perfectly to Vetokele who kicked it at the goalkeeper. Foster failed to push the ball into the goal on the rebound, giving the visitors a good save.

In minute 67 Halil Akbunar entered the field to make his debut, replacing Lyle Foster. Lukas Van Eenoo also had to leave the field and was replaced by Roman Neustaedter.

Our Kemphans managed to keep the pressure on the Pandas’ defense. However, it was Eupen that managed to score in minute 84. Nuhu got too much space and was able to place the ball in the far corner, 0-1.

Westerlo got another penalty in the final minutes of the match. Dierckx put himself behind the ball but goalkeeper Moser stopped the shot. Then the match was over, we lost at home with 0-1.
