Match report KVC Westerlo – City Pirates
This afternoon, our Kemphans – under a blazing Belgian sun – played their first practice match of the season. As a brand new 1A-team we took on 2nd Amateur club City Pirates from Merksem.
For Tuur Dierckx it was his first game in 8 months and the young players of City Pirates knew it. Tuur continued his fantastic form of last year and cut through the Antwerp defence like a knife through butter. In the half hour that he played, he provided 2 assists (the first for the opening goal by Kader Keita and the 4-0 by Erdon Daci he also prepared) and 2 goals (in minute 11 and 30). His cries of joy spoke volumes. After the match our coach Jonas De Roeck would say the following: I am very pleased for Tuur. After his long rehabilitation he was able to finish it today.
For the rest, the match was already played after 10 minutes. By then it was already 3-0. We went into the break with a 7-0 lead and 4 more goals would come after the break, with a beautiful free kick-beauty in the right hook by Maxim De Cuyper.
Coach Jonas De Roeck was of course pleased with this result, as it was a change after a week of intensive training. Re-creating game- and ball feeling after a period of inactivity is best done during practice matches with commitment.
Today the opponent was of a lower level, the next games were deliberately chosen to play against a stronger opponent. That way, you can see what points may need to be worked on.
For the statisticians among us, we give you the goal scorers (Keita, Van Den Keybus, Dierckx(2x), Daci, Vetokele(2x), Van Eenoo, Güctekin, Bernat and De Cuyper), as well as the assist givers (Dierckx(2x), Keita, Daci(2x), Lloci, Van Den Keybus, Vaesen, Gouré and Oğuz Güçtekin).
