Just before halftime it was almost 1-2 after a corner kick by Bernat, but the ball was worked off the line by Rob Schoofs. The players then went into the dressing rooms, after a first half where Westerlo seemed to be in control.

Second half

Shortly after halftime, our Kemphans almost immediately cashed in a second goal. Hairemans was given a sea of space and kicked the ball into the short corner past Sinan Bolat.

On the hour, the equalizer was worked into the goal from the spot. Bernat provoked a penalty from Peyre, which was then converted by Tuur Dierckx, 2-2.

Three minutes later it was another hit for Tuur. This time he came in well and kicked the ball excellently into the far corner from distance, 2-3.

Substitute Lyle Foster also managed to score another goal in the 73rd minute. After a long ball, the Mechelen defence was clearly too hesitant and Foster could get past the goalkeeper and work the ball into the goal, 2-4.

The festival of goals was not over yet, as Mechelen also managed to score two goals in the space of two minutes. First it was Rob Schoofs who scored from a deflected ball to make it 3-4. Then Milan Robberechts headed the 4-4 against the nets.

The 2-4 lead was given away completely, Mechelen managed to get back on top via Robberechts making it 5-4.
