KVC Westerlo continues to focus on its youth!
Adil El Attabi and Maxim Versteeven signed their first professional contract with KVC Westerlo today.
Both players will be lent out immediately to gain experience and gather playing minutes. Adil will move to Heist and Maxim will work at Houtvenne next season.
We held a short interview with both players:
Hello Adil and Maxime,
Congratulations on your contract! Imagine: who are you, how long have you been with Westerlo, what position do you play?
Maxim: I’ve been playing at KVC Westerlo since the U14. I’ve always felt like a striker. I can also play on the flanks.
Adil: I’ve only been playing at KVC Westerlo since last season. I’m an offensive player, left or right flank as well as offensive midfielder positions.
You’ve had a taste of the great work in some friendly games last season, tell me, how did you experience this?
Maxim: It was, of course, a great experience that we were able to get a taste of real professional football. I’m glad that I got this chance and that I was able to play and train with the “real big boys”.
Adil: I also found this a very nice experience to experience. It was a big difference compared to academy and youth football. I am very happy with the opportunities I got last season.
What is your ambition?
Maxim: My ambition is initially to impress KVC Westerlo and get into the first team. Next season I want to profile myself as a real full-fledged striker in adult football. I want to try to break through at KVC Westerlo.
Adil: My ambition is to make as many minutes as possible at KSK Heist in the first instance to be able to play football at KVC Westerlo afterward. I also want to develop myself as a soccer player step by step.
Adil and Maxim: We would like to thank KVC Westerlo for this opportunity and will do our utmost to give it all next season. We’re both aware that we’ll have to work hard to profile ourselves in a first-team but we’re totally happy with this!
Thanks and good luck guys!
