Before the match the faith among our supporters was great. Unfortunately, one class flash – and clumsiness in the Westerlo defense – from substitute Loris Brogno was enough to set the Kiel on fire and  give the home team the three points they deserved.

Bob Peeters chose Noël Soumah as a replacement for the yellow suspended Maxime Biset. For the rest, the same team remained and newcomer Baris Alici was allowed to take a seat on the bench.
The first half was one without any real goal danger. At both teams the strong players failed, so there was little line in the game. The chance of the first half was for Christian Brüls. He came face to face with Kiel goalkeeper Mike Vanhamel, but the guy showed why he is of gold value for his team.
So the first half got stuck on a  0-0. Hope you get better for the second half. And there it was. Only it wasn’t Westerlo. Within fifteen minutes we saw two giant chances for the home team. First Bourdin shot past, but at the second attempt it was a goal. Tissoudali dribbled through our defence and then laid handsomely on Prince Ibara, who was able to stick the ball into the empty goal. Fortunately the Congolese were offside and the goal was rightly rejected. A little later the home team lost one of its important players.
Frédéric Frans was injured and coach Losada opted to replace his central defender with fine-tuned striker Loris Brogno. A daring move by the Argentine coach. It would prove to be an inevitable golden change. In minute 70 Holzhauser showed one of his class flashes and handed in the ball to Brogno. He remained icy calm and between five(!) yellow-blue defenders murmured as if they weren’t there, only to end up working the ball against the net (1-0).
The signal for our coach to bring in all his attacking forces. Baris Alici was allowed to make his first minutes of play for his new club and a little later Sava Petrov joined the attack. But Beerschot was much sharper in the second half than our Kemphanen. In minute 97 Gilles Dewaele still had a chance at the equaliser. In the first phase Sava Petrov’s shot was just a bit too weak, but Igor Vetokele’s insistence gave Gilles the ultimate shooting chance. His shot had just a bit too much effect and swung centimetres next to the goal.
