Convincing 1-3 victory over Standard

Westerlo travelled to Liège yesterday to play an exercise match against Standard. They won the match with a convincing 1-3 final score.

Westerlo took an early lead in the first half. Atabey Ciçek was able to get in front of the Standard goalkeeper alone in the second minute and worked the ball into the net. Then it were the Rouches who sent Ntelo deep. He first kicked at our goalkeeper Koen Van Langendonck, but the ball landed at his feet and he only had to tap in the equaliser.

Ten minutes before half time, central defender Guy Serge Yaméogo made it 1-2 after a corner with a beautiful volley from the edge of the penalty area. Westerlo went into the dressing rooms with a lead.

In the second half, the Kemphans scored again from a corner kick. Yaméogo headed the ball into the feet of our striker Igor Vetokele, who made sure the ball ended in the bottom left corner with a well-placed low shot. The final score of 1-3 is a fact.
