Bob Peeters: We must continue to show this mentality

Bob, 2-2 against champion Union. I think that’s a good performance?

This was by far our best performance against Union this season. You always want to win of course, but 2-2 is a good performance against a team that has won 11 times in a row.

We played a good first half where we controlled the game. We scored 1-0 just before halftime, so we also started the second half pretty well. Then Lapoussin was brought in and we had some problems that made it 1-1. The corner they scored from should not have been a corner, we should have had the ball. Then some frustrations set in and it ended up 1-2. After this we made some substitutions and as a coach it is always nice to see that those decisions work and the guys who were brought in make it 2-2.

The team showed a lot of commitment and a good mentality today. We need to keep that up for the next four games.

You brought three new boys to the kick-off today. Do you plan to bring in new names in the coming games, with an eye on next year?

I don’t know yet, we’ll have to see. In any case, I thought today was successful. Koen had to wait a long time to play again. Berke is leaving after this season so we decided to let Koen play the last five games.

Rubin Seigers and Guy Yameogo also had to gain some game time but did well. We have an international break coming up so we will see who is fittest and who will play against Lierse.
