Big defeat in friendly game

This afternoon, KVC Westerlo played a friendly against first division side KRC Genk. Unfortunately, the club from Limburg was a level too high  for our Kemphanen.

Line-up KVC Westerlo:

Berke Özer, Biset, Remmer, Basilio, Mabea, Lloci, Antunes, Paulet, Dierckx, Gboho, Vaesen

First half: 2-0

The opening quarter was evenly balanced with a dangerous Kouya Mabea who twice forced KRC Genk goalkeeper Tobe Leysen to make a save. Then, on the half hour, Cyriel Dessers scored twice in one minute with an almost identical goal. He was sent deep into the net twice and managed to put the ball past our goalkeeper Berke Özer. Westerlo went into the break with a 2-0 deficit.

Second half: 5-1

The second half started with Ange-Freddy Plumain replacing Ambroise Gboho. Cyriel Dessers scored his third goal of the match after 15 minutes. A minute later, our defence lost the ball and Dessers again took advantage, making it 4-0.

Kouya Mabea continued to work hard and created a threat from the wing, but he was brought down just before the penalty area. Simon Paulet then used the free kick to make it 4-1. Cyriel Dessers responded by putting the 5-1 on the scoreboard.

In the 76th minute, Fabian Antunes and Kyan Vaesen were replaced by Dimitrije Jovanovic and Sava Petrov. Jovanovic created some danger in the closing seconds, but his shot hit the bar.
