“Best foreign investor in Belgium”

Vice-President Hasan Cetinkaya recently had an interview with Gazet Van Antwerpen. One of the topics discussed was the renovation of the infrastructure.

“Everything at the club looks much tighter today. The club logo in the grass, a strip along the sideline in the club colours, a fresh colour on the façade and soon LED lighting, in yellow and blue, of course.” Says Hasan Cetinkaya in the interview with GVA.

Westerlo has been achieving less sporting results recently, but the transformation of the club was necessary. “The past two years we have invested four million euros in the infrastructure and development of the club. We could have invested that money in the team by buying five or six new players, but that way you make sure the team becomes bigger than the club. Then you work on a short-term vision and you don’t stay upright for long. We want a solid foundation.”

The players, too, have many more advantages than before. “We offer better conditions to our players. They have their own gym, we work together with two nutrition consultants, there is a sports psychologist available and we are even the only club that owns a players’ bus.”

The club also receives very positive feedback from colleagues in the football world. “Vincent Mannaert visited us and called us the best foreign investor in Belgium. When such a respected person in the Belgian football world says that, it is an important signal for me.”
