From childhood dream to European ambition

What began playfully at the age of seven grew into a story of pure passion, discipline, and talent. Alyssa Van de Poel is living proof of what’s possible when you pursue a dream with heart and soul. As a young goalkeeper, she took her first steps at KVC Westerlo U8, and from U9 onwards she followed the full elite training programme – a path that shaped her into the strong personality and top athlete she is today.

At just 15 years old she made the switch to women’s football at the highest level. Since then, she has stood out with her calm presence, tireless work ethic, and a drive rarely seen. Every season, she raised the bar for herself, determined to keep growing.

That mentality was rewarded. Alyssa not only became a key figure in our team, where she kept multiple clean sheets, but was also selected for the national U17 and U19 squads. An achievement that confirms her place among the country’s greatest talents.

Her name was also heard beyond our borders. Interest from top clubs, both national and international, quickly followed. Ultimately, Alyssa chose to join RSC Anderlecht Women, seven-time national champions and a regular presence on the European stage. A choice that perfectly fits her hunger for more and her dream to prove herself internationally.

As a club, we can only be proud. Proud that we were able to guide, train, and watch her grow from a young age. Proud to have contributed to her development both as a player and as a person.

Alyssa, whatever you do, wherever you play: You will always be one of us. A Westel Lady through and through.
We wish you a brilliant future!
